TAFTAN: Pakistan Customs has thwarted a major attempt to smuggle the dangerous narcotic drug Methadone at the Taftan border. According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), a detailed examination of a container carrying 620 cartons led to the recovery of approximately 11.16 million Methadone pills, valued at around Rs. 446 million. The seized consignment belonged to an importer already implicated in customs fraud and misdeclaration cases. One individual attempting to shift the consignment to a private vehicle was arrested on the spot. FBR stated that Methadone can only be imported through a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Ministry of Narcotics Control upon the recommendation of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
