
Karachi: In accordance with the directives of Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi, Moinuddin Ahmed Wani, effective anti-smuggling measures are being actively implemented across the region. Acting on these instructions, Additional Collector of Customs Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi directed the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) to conduct aggressive and vigilant operations. Following his orders, Assistant Collector Ms. Basma Noor and Superintendent Muhammad Habib were tasked with strict surveillance of suspected goods being transported from Balochistan to Karachi and from Karachi towards Hyderabad. Credible intelligence was received indicating that large quantities of smuggled goods were being moved via various vehicles from Quetta to Karachi and onward to other parts of the country. Acting swiftly, the Customs Enforcement Karachi’s Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted and inspected three different vehicles. The operation led to the recovery of 1,710 kilograms of betel nuts from a Bedford truck (registration number JT-5457) valued at approximately PKR 6.3 million, 3,900 kilograms of crushed betel nuts from a dumper (TLA-966) worth PKR 8.1 million, and 2,940 kilograms of betel nuts from a Hino truck (TTB-814) valued at over PKR 12.2 million. In total, smuggled goods worth PKR 26.6 million were seized under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969. The Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi commended the successful actions of the Anti-Smuggling Organization and emphasized that such operations will continue with the same level of commitment, discipline, strategic planning, and teamwork to curb smuggling activities in the future.
